What is IFS?
What is IFS?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based psychotherapy model that helps individuals understand and address the internal patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress. IFS views the mind as consisting of distinct parts, each with its own thoughts, feelings, and protective strategies. For example, you may have an anxious part, an angry part, or part that tries to keep others from big feelings. Through a collaborative therapeutic process, clients learn to identify and work with these parts, reduce internal conflict, and heal underlying emotional wounds. This approach promotes greater emotional regulation, self-compassion, resilience, and psychological well-being.
